Mission Statement
The mission of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League is to assist each woman of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod in affirming her relationship with the Triune God so that she is enabled to use her gifts in ministry to the people of the world.

OBJECTIVES

Mission Educationequipping women to reach out in love.

Mission Inspiration—helping women to grow spiritually.

Mission Service—providing opportunities for helping others.

Mission Projects—providing women a way to share blessings through the gathering of materials and funds.

MEMBERSHIP

All women 18 years and older who are communicant members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church are automatically members of the LWML, whether or not they choose to actively participate.

LWML mite boxThe Mite Box 
Based on the Biblical account of the widow's mite (Luke 21:1-4), the mite box is intended for regular contributions of "mites" - offerings above and beyond the support given to congregation and the LCMS. Mite box contributions amount to millions of dollars that fund district and national mission grants and implement the LWML program.

STANDING COMMITTEES:

Altar Guild takes care of the altar linens, communionware, vestments, altar flowers and vases, banners and paraments; maintains flower chart; provides baptismal napkins, candles; and upkeep of surplices and robes.

Bible Study Committee encourages Bible Study and provides opportunities for group Bible Study; i.e. Monday 10 am and Wednesday 6:30 am.

Bridal Service provides decorations and assistance for wedding rehearsals; purchases and maintains necessary equipment.

Care for the Caregiver Steering Committee supervises the Caregiver Support Group, plans programs for Caregivers, and oversees the Congregational Resource Guide.

Cradle Roll is responsible for ordering, visiting, and mailing materials to parents of children under three.

Decoration Committee is responsible for decorating the sanctuary for festival occasion; ordering special flowers; maintaining and storing decorative items ie wreaths, Chrismons.

Foster Care Committee is responsible for maintaining contact with two Foster Care families; providing requested items; promoting participation by members of the congregation.

Golden Coffee Chairman is responsible for procuring monthly hostesses for the Golden Coffee for our senior ladies, which occurs on 2nd Wed. of the month at 10 am.

Greeting Card Chairman is responsible for ordering and displaying all-occasion cards for purchase by the congregation.

Historian is responsible for collecting programs and souvenirs from various local LWML programs, retreats, etc. and maintaining albums to display such.

Kitchen Committee is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order in the two kitchen areas; for ordering supplies; and providing assistance when requested.

Layette Committee is responsible for procuring items needed for LWR Layettes (cloth diapers, gowns/sleepers, receiving blankets, diaper pins, undershirts, sweaters, and wash cloths); assembling items, packing and distributing them where needed. A collection box is located in the narthex for contributions.

Lutheran World Relief Chairman is responsible for publicizing LWR needs and collection times; for supervising packaging and transporting materials to pick-up site.

Martha’s Kitchen Helpers is comprised of several groups of ladies willing to provide, for a short term, a meal to a family in the vent of a birth, death, or family emergency.

Mission Projects Chairman maintains the collection box in the narthex for used postage stamps (leave a 1/4 inch margin around the stamps); trims these stamps for resale for district mission projects. Also collects and prepares Campbell Soup, Prego, Swanson and Franco-American labels to be mailed, as well as wrapped bars of soap for LWR.

Parish Publications Committee provides assistance in collating, stapling and sorting the monthly church newsletter and other special mailings.

Chairman: Sharon Krasuss

Quilting Group collects old sheets, blankets, mattress pads, electric blankets or scraps of material; cuts material, distributes blocks to be sewn, attaches backing, and ties resultant quilts for distribution locally and through Lutheran World Relief.

Chairman: Carol Emslie

Sunshine Chairman purchases and sends greeting cards to those on our prayer list, flower chart, or upon request.

Chairman: Mary Struven

Telephone Prayer Chain Chairman is responsible for collecting and forwarding to the first member of the chain the many prayer requests from members of the congregation.

Tract Rack Chairman orders supplies for tract rack, keeps rack in order and provides special displays when appropriate.
