Please check back here often for the latest information regarding Good Shepherd Lutheran Church activities and COVID-19.

8-4-2021 The Santa Barbara County Department of Health has mandated once again that everyone, regardless of vaccination status, wear masks during any "public"  indoor activities, effective August 6, 2021.

6-14-2021 Seating is no longer limited in our sanctuary and our meeting spaces have reopened. Per the CDPH guidelines effective June 15, 2021, unvaccinated persons are still required to wear face coverings in indoor spaces, including our sanctuary and meeting rooms. If you are not wearing a mask you are self attesting that you have been vaccinated.

4-21-2021 Although per recent court decisions we do not have legal restrictions on our attendance size we are complying with the new Santa Barbara County 50% "orange" capacity guidelines as well as continuing physical/social distancing and other CDC guidelines.

3-14-2021  We are pleased to announce that in-person Sunday services will be restarting beginning on 3-21-2021.  Please call the church office for reservations as our indoor seating capacity is still limited.  Please click this for details and times. All other campus activities continue to be suspended.

11-17-2020 Santa Barbara County is back in the "purple" category again. In-person church services are prohibited so we are shifting back to recorded and livestreamed services. See the Home Page for schedules and the Videos Page for posted live and recorded service videos.

11-14-2020 We are still holding in-person and live-streamed Worship services on Sundays and Morning Meditation on Wednesdays. Thanksgiving Eve and Wednesday Advent Worship services are being planned. Our preschool is also open with limited enrollment. All other campus activities are still suspended.

7-13-2020 Governor Newson discontinued church services. We will livestream our 9:30 Sunday services until we can reopen services.

7-6-2020 We are now holding Sunday services in our sanctuary (see for details and times). All other campus activities continue to be suspended.

5-26-2020 The State of California and County of Santa Barbara have issued guidelines for reopening church services. We will be implementing these guidelines and plan to reopen for Sunday services in the next few weeks.

4-9-2020 You may continue to call us with any questions or concerns. Our telephones are answered during office hours (Monday-Thursday, 8am - noon).

4-1-2020 All campus activities continue to be suspended pending lifting of "shelter in place" order.

3-19-2020 All Good Shepherd campus activities are suspended due to the governor's "shelter in place" order effective immediately.

3-16-2020 COVID-19/Coronavirus is on everyone's mind right now and many of our congregants are categorized in the "high risk" group for the virus. The U.S. Government and the Santa Barbara Public Health Department have declared a public health emergency.

Although our gatherings are well below the number (250) of people locally asked to postpone or cancel events, we will practice "social distancing" where practical until the crisis is over.

Our 2020 Lenten Soup Suppers are canceled as the meal seating is close together and we share some serving utensils, containers, etc. during the dinners. Update: Midweek Lenten services are also canceled.

Some of you may have heard of the scheduled date for the memorial service for Joe Harkins (March 21st). The service will not be held in March (due to attendee travel concerns) and has been tentatively rescheduled for May 16th. More information will be provided by email and/or this page as it becomes available.

Thank you!

May the peace of the Lord be with you.
